1929 - Original UK Propaganda Poster of David Lloyd George

$2,850.00

Original vintage political propaganda poster for the 1929 United Kingdom general election - A Frost! - featuring a caricature of the Liberal Party leader David Lloyd George riding a bike with puppies, the box reads - Squall's I'Scream Pups. Stop me and buy one! - with price tags on puppies - Roads to nowhere. Homes for heroes. Can I do it? Spades for all. Published by the National Union of Conservative and Unionist Associations, Palace Chambers, Westminster. Printed by Hancock Corfield and Waller LTD. Artist was Fred Buchanan and printed in 1929.

Dimensions: 20” x 29” - Approx 800-900 pieces - I will likely remove the “A FROST” section at the bottom and focus more on the scene with the puppies only. It should be a bit more interesting that way - maybe I use the blue border in a unique way to make the edge ornate.

Lloyd George had been Prime Minister from 1916 to 1922, leading the wartime coalition government. Lloyd George and the Liberals campaigned under the slogan and programme “We Can Conquer Unemployment” — emphasizing public works, investment, job creation and social reform. After leaving the premiership, the Liberal Party had gone into decline: internal splits (notably between Asquith’s Liberals and Lloyd George’s faction), loss of seats, and diminishing influence. He attempted to revitalize the party by introducing new policy programs and using his personal and financial influence (e.g., his war-era reputation, his “fund” for Liberal candidates) to support candidates.
