A Robert Combas Exhibition Poster released at Yvon Lambert gallery in Paris, 1986. We show here the - before and after - design. A futile exchange of glances amongst “friends”, this adorably oblivious ostrich is seemingly ill-fated to eventuality, and the circling vultures await. Many allegories and comparisons can be made to such situations whether human or animal, but in the end, it all comes down to ones nature.
We took inspiration from the hidden gems that lie within Combas’ work, the squished and stretched faces that get morphed into a space otherwise befit for oxygen. Instead, all space is adorned with intricate expressions and mythical hybrid animals that weave and wind through thin caervnous space, as if moving through an ant farm in and amongst the wider subjects placed around the work. Our goal is to add value to an already wondrous creation, and we hope we did here.
